Abstract

|
A synthetic study toward the total synthesis of giffonins A and D, cyclized diarylheptanoids, is described. The key feature of our synthesis involves efficient formation of the advanced precursors, which consist of entire skeleton of the diarylheptanoids, utilizing regioselective formylation and iodination.
